Hey there,

We hope you’ve been soaking up those rays over the past few days. Catching some of that Vitamin D. Now let’s all ask the sun to stay please.

We had an amazing crop of applicants apply to the open call to join our Youth Advisory Board (YAP). After shortlisting and interviewing (and lots of conversations!), we have selected the eight wonderful young people who will be joining the BO family for two years as our YAP. From their perspectives they’ll advise us on all things BO and hopefully learn a thing about leadership and governance along the way too. We can’t wait to introduce you to our eight panellists next month.

We’ve been busy working with our wonderful BO & Co company lowercase, who will be sharing 20 minutes from their show Dead Out at LIVE: Scarborough, before a full run in the Autumn (Watch. This. Space).

Our callout for LIVE: Scarborough is now… live. It is a joy to be partnering with the brilliant Stephen Joseph Theatre, and returning to the Yorkshire coast, nearly 10 years on from when we were in Scarborough as a fledgling company at NSDF in 2014 (see pic above). We will be selecting four fantastic artists and companies who will be sharing some brand-new work, testing out fresh ideas and forms in front of an audience. So if you’re based in North or East Yorkshire and/or making digital work, please apply, spread the word following this link.

Finally, we continue our commitment to shouting out pals, alumni, or colleagues of ours who we think you should know more about. This month it was a privilege to watch Votive Theatre’s Choose Your Fighter at Camden People’s Theatre. The company formed as a BO&Co company back in 2022 and it was amazing to see the culmination of all their hard work – huge well done to the cast and creative team on a fantastic show. Thunk-It, the BO&Co company from 2021, have a big night on 8th June with their Don't Fear, We're Just Queer at Pocklington Arts Centre (link here). Theatre company Growth House (2021 LIVE artists) are presenting their show Big Strong Man at Cast Doncaster 14th-18th June. We wish them all the luck and leg breakage. And lastly Morven Robinson’s project around men’s mental health is showing across South Yorks across May June and July. It sounds like a very special project, follow the link for more info.
